Specifically, this handbook includes the following: 1. Discussion of standard specifications set forth by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Department of Defense (DOD) (US Air Force, US Navy, US Army, US Marine Corps and US Coast Guard). 2. Documentation of construction techniques and practices that result in quality products, (i.e., longer lasting airfield markings). 3. Discussion of advantages and disadvantages of techniques or practices when more than one method is available. 4. Identification of practices that result in early aging, premature failures, and poor longterm performance of airfield markings. 5. Commonly encountered problems in meeting project specifications.
