A glossary of terms, definitions and abbreviated terms for these handbooks is contained in Part 8. An insert is a fixation device for honeycomb sandwich panel structures. A conventional or standard potted insert system consists of three main components: Insert + Sandwich structure + Potting mass Non‐standard types of inserts have also been developed, Ref. [23-3]. This chapter provides an introduction to the various types of inserts along with some basic guidelines for their use.
