SECNAV M-5214.1, DEPARTMENT OF THE NAVY - INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS (REPORTS) MANUAL (DEC 2005)., This manual implements the policy set forth in Secretary of the Navy Instruction (SECNAVINST) 5210.16, Department of the Navy (DON) Forms Management and Information Requirements (Reports) Management Programs, 31 December 2005 regarding information collections (reports) and is issued under the authority of SECNAVINST 5430.7N, Assignment of Responsibilities and Authorities in the Office of the Secretary of the Navy, 9 June 2005. SECNAVINST 5214.2B, Department of the Navy (DON) Information requirements (Reports) Management Program, 6 December 1988 was cancelled by separate administrative action. This Manual provides guidance to program managers and action officers who need to obtain information from the public, other Federal agencies, and within the DON and provides them with the procedures necessary to license their information requirements. It also provides guidance to assist information management control managers on the operation of their information collection programs. This Manual is effective immediately; it is mandatory and applicable to the Offices of the Secretary of the Navy, The Chief of Naval Operations (CNO), the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC), and all Navy and Marine Corps activities, installations, and commands.
