OPNAV P-45-113-3-99, AFLOAT MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT GUIDE (JUN 1999)., The Afloat Medical Waste Management Guide is intended for use by personnel involved in the handling, sterilization, storage, and disposal of shipboard medical waste. It is designed to provide simple, easily understood procedures to efficiently manage and control medical waste and prevent the incidence of improper disposal from Navy ships. The Afloat Medical Waste Management Guide supplements and implements the policies established for shipboard medical waste in Chapter 19 of OPNAVINST 5090.1 Series. It was developed with the staffs of the Fleet Commanders in Chief and the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery. While all supporting individuals and organizations are not specifically identified, their efforts in the preparation of this publication are appreciated.
