SMC-T-004 (REV. 1), AIR FORCE SPACE COMMAND - SPACE AND MISSILE SYSTEMS CENTER: TAILORING FOR MIL-STD-882E INCLUDING SMC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS (30-SEP-2019)., This SMC tailored MIL-STD-882E outlines the SMC standard practice for conducting system safety. The system safety practice as defined herein conforms to SMC-applicable requirements including DoDI 5000.02, AFGM2018-63-146-01, AFI 63-101/20-101, AFI 91-217, AFMCI 63-1201, AFI 91-202 including AFSPC Sup 1 and SMC-G-012 and provides a consistent means of evaluating identified risks. Applicable policy defines the risk acceptance authorities. Mishap risk must be identified, evaluated, and mitigated to a level acceptable (as defined by risk acceptance authorities, the system user or customer) to the appropriate authority and compliant with federal (and state and local where applicable) laws and regulations, Executive Orders, policies, treaties, and agreements. Program trade studies associated with mitigating mishap risk must consider total life cycle cost in any decision. When this standard is required in a solicitation or contract but no specific tasks are identified, only Sections 3 and 4 are mandatory. The definitions in 3.2 and all of Section 4 delineate the minimum mandatory definitions and requirements for an acceptable system safety effort for any SMC system.
