AFFDL-TR-65-197, TECHNICAL REPORT: THE EVOLUTION OF USAF ENVIRONMENTAL TESTING (OCT 1965)., This report presents supporting data and background information on the origination and development of natural and induced environmental tests intended for USAF aerospace and ground equipment. The information provided in the discussion portion of the test write-ups is intended to give the designer, application engineer, and those individuals responsible for specifying test requirements, a clearer understanding of the interpretation, application, and relationship of tests as called out in various environmental test documents. The growth of environmental criteria and test procedures is traced from the first Army Air Force specification No. 41065 dated 7 December 1945 to MIL-STD-810A (USAF) dated 23 June 1964. Included also in this report are discussions on environmental test specifications MIL-T-5422, MIL-E-5272, and MIL-E-4970.
