AFDD 1, AIR FORCE DOCTRINE DOCUMENT: AIR FORCE BASIC DOCTRINE (17 NOV 2003)

AFDD 1, AIR FORCE DOCTRINE DOCUMENT: AIR FORCE BASIC DOCTRINE (17 NOV 2003)., This document is the premier statement of US Air Force basic doctrine. It has been prepared under the direction of the Chief of Staff of the Air Force (CSAF). It establishes general doctrinal guidance for the application of air and space forces in operations across the full range of military opera- tions, from nuclear or conventional warfare, to military operations other than war (MOOTW), and to operations within the homeland. It should form the basis from which Air Force commanders plan and execute their assigned air and space missions and act as a commander within a Service, joint, or multinational force. This Air Force Doctrine Document (AFDD) applies to all active duty, Air Force Reserve, Air National Guard, and civilian Air Force personnel. The doctrine in this document is authoritative, but not directive. Therefore, commanders need to consider not only the contents of this AFDD, but also the particular situation when accomplishing their missions. Air Force capabilities, to include people, weapons, and support systems, can be used across the range of military operations at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels of war. This document discusses the fundamental beliefs that underpin the application of the full range of Air Force air, space, and information capabilities to accomplish the missions assigned by the President and the Secretary of Defense.
