NASA-STD-5008B, NASA TECHNICAL STANDARD: PROTECTIVE COATING OF CARBON STEEL, STAINLESS STEEL, AND ALUMINUM ON LAUNCH STRUCTURES, FACILITIES, AND GROUND SUPPORT EQUIPMENT (18 MAR 2011)., he purpose of this Standard is to establish requirements for the application of protective coatings to mitigate corrosion of exposed carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. This Standard provides a design standard for experienced corrosion control engineers for the development of specifications including requirements for materials, equipment, safety, procedures, and quality assurance inspections. Refer to section 1.2 for the intended use of this Standard and surfaces to be coated according to this Standard. Refer to Appendices A, B, and C for listings of approved coating materials. This Standard is applicable to facilities, launch structures, ground support equipment (GSE), test facilities, and structures that are intended for use at all NASA locations world-wide.
