SL-E-0002 (VOLUME 1) SPACE SHUTTLE SPECIFICATION: ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE CHARACTERISTICS, REQUIREMENTS FOR EQUIPMENT (BOOK 3) NEW OR MODIFIED EQUIPMENT (10 AUG 2001)
SL-E-0002 (VOLUME 1) SPACE SHUTTLE SPECIFICATION: ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE CHARACTERISTICS, REQUIREMENTS FOR EQUIPMENT (BOOK 3) NEW OR MODIFIED EQUIPMENT (10 AUG 2001)., This specification (adapted from MIL-STD-461E, Requirements for the Control of Electromagnetic
Interference Characteristics of Subsystems and Equipment) establishes
limits and associated test methods for the control of the Electromagnetic Interference
(EMI) characteristics of electronic, electrical, and electromechanical equipment and
subsystems designed or procured for use by NASA for use on the Space Shuttle
Vehicle (SSV). Such equipment and subsystems may be used independently or as an
integral part of other subsystems or systems. Data item requirements are also included
(reference Paragraph 4.2).
The requirements of this specification are tailored for the SSV. Unforeseen cases may
arise which necessitate further tailoring. When analyses reveal that the requirements in
this specification are not appropriate for a procurement, the requirements may be tailored
and incorporated into the request-for-proposal, specification, contract, order, and
so forth. The test procedures contained in this document shall be adapted by the
testing activity for each application. The adapted test procedures shall be documented
in the EMI Test Procedures (EMITPs) (reference Paragraph 4.2.2).
