MIL-STD-1687A, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE MANUFACTURING PROCESS STANDARD: THERMAL SPRAY PROCESSES FOR NAVAL SHIP MACHINERY APPLICATIONS (11 FEB 1987)., This standard covers thermal spray processes for machinery repair and corrosion protection of Naval ship machinery, except the spraying of aluminum for corrosion protection which is covered in DOD-STD-2138. This standard does not apply to primary and secondary systems of nuclear ships. Included are requirements for the qualification of thermal spray procedures and operators, requirements and guidance for use of thermal spray material and equipment, quality assurance requirements, and descriptions of applicable qualification tests.
