MIL-STD-1528A (NOTICE-2), DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE MILITARY STANDARD: MANUFACTURING MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (27 FEB 1995) [S/S BY SAE-AS6500]., MIL-STD-1528A(USAF), dated 9 September 1986, was cancelled 27 February 1995. SAE AS6500, “Manufacturing Management Program,” adopted on 20 January 2015 for use by the Department of Defense (DoD) can be used as a replacement. SAE AS6500 is for use on all programs, during all phases of the system acquisition life cycle, with manufacturing content. It requires proven manufacturing management practices with the goal of delivering affordable and capable systems.
