MIL-STD-644A, MILITARY STANDARD: VISUAL INSPECTION STANDARDS AND INSPECTION PROCEDURES FOR INSPECTION OF PACKAGING, PACKING AND MARKING OF SMALL ARMS AMMUNITION (03-DEC-1962)., This standard prescribes procedures
for the inspection of packaging, packing
and marking of small arms ammunition.
It specifies the extent of the inspection of
the container contents, the containers themselves
and overpacks of such containers. It
also supplies classification of defects, acceptable
quality levels and furnishes visual defect
standards when necessary. This standard is intended
to be used by the small arms ammunition
manufacturer, by the Government for verification
inspection and by any government facility
engaged in the packaging and packing
of small arms ammunition. It forms an integral
part of the applicable cartridge specification
and is to be used in conjunction
with the packaging, packing and marking
drawings referenced therein.
