promote commonality of communications equipment and subsystems using Mode VI
channel coordination procedures. An additional objective of this document is to
prevent proliferation of equipment serving the same or similar function. This document specifies the minimum requirements necessary to
implement information and record traffic exchange among data communications
systems employed in long haul and tactical communications networks. It is not the
intent of this document to specify any particular hardware or software design or
implementation. Message formats are not included in this document.
