This document also establishes a level of performance for long-haul and tactical fiber optic links necessary to satisfy the requirements of a majority of users. Consequently, hardware specific design details are not contained herein. These and other design details must be based on specific requirements and must be carefully tailored in accordance with the provisions of DoD Directive 5000.43.
