MIL-A-8243D (NOTICE 1), MILITARY SPECIFICATION: ANTI-ICING AND DEICING-DEFROSTING FLUIDS (17-DEC-2001) [S/S BY SAE-AMS1424]., MIL-A-8243D, dated 26 October 1985, is hereby cancelled. Future acquisition for this item should refer to SAE AMS 1424, "Deicing/Anti-Icing Fluid, Aircraft, SAE Type I". The U.S. Air Force endorses the use of SAE AMS 1424 in lieu of MIL-A-8243; however, the U.S. Air Force shall not procure any deicing/anti-icing fluids that contain ethylene glycol (USAF/CE; March 31, 1992; "Prohibition on Purchase of Environmentally Hazardous Deicing Chemicals"). Proposed changes by DoD activities must be submitted to the DoD Adopting Activity: U.S. Air Force, ASC/ENOI, 2530 LOOP ROAD WEST, WRIGHT-PATTERSON AFB OH 45433-7101.
