MIL-HDBK-1798A, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HANDBOOK: MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND SUBSYSTEMS INTEGRITY PROGRAM (24 SEP 2001) [S/S BY MIL-STD-1798]
MIL-HDBK-1798A, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE HANDBOOK: MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT AND SUBSYSTEMS INTEGRITY PROGRAM (24 SEP 2001) [S/S BY MIL-STD-1798]., The purpose of this handbook is to describe the general process to achieve and maintain the physical and functional integrity of the mechanical elements of airborne, support, and training systems. The goal of the program is to ensure the operational safety, suitability, and effectiveness (OSS&E) of a weapon system, while reducing total operating cost. The process described herein is in direct support of the OSS&E Air Force Policy Directive 63-12 and the Air Force Instruction 63-1201 requirements to establish a disciplined engineering process that will ensure the physical and functional integrity of the system being procured. This handbook allows the process to be tailored in a competitive environment to meet specific equipment, subsystem, and/or system requirements. The Mechanical Equipment and Subsystems Integrity Program (MECSIP) is implemented in the planning process and continued until retirement of the system. This handbook should be tailored for each program in accordance with specific program strategy.
