MIL-HDBK-1005/9, MILITARY HANDBOOK: INDUSTRIAL AND OILY WASTEWATER CONTROL (30 SEP 1988) [SUPERSEDING DM-5.9] [S/S BY MIL-STD-3007]., This handbook contains design criteria for the collection, transport, and treatment of industrial and oily wastewater discharges from Naval facilities. Particular details covered include: a) design procedures and guidelines; b) industrial and oily wastewater characterization, collection, and treatment; c) effluent disposal; d) metering, instrumentation and control of wastewater processes; e) chemical handling and feeding. Emphasis has been placed on processes and equipment which have had wide application and for which there is significant design and operation experience. Systems particularly applicable to the size and type of facilities operated by the Navy are emphasized. This manual does not cover systems for the control of exhaust emissions from internal combustion engines, boilers or air scrubbers; systems for the control of wastes from nuclear reactors; or systems for control, transport, and disposal of hazardous wastes.
