For aerospace and unspecified applications use SAE Aerospace
Materials Specification (AMS) AMS-QQ-A-200E, “Aluminum Alloy,
Bar, Rod, Shapes, Structural Shapes, Tube and Wire, Extruded;
General Specification” and associated Detail Specifications.
For non-aerospace applications use American Society for Testing
and Materials (ASTM) Specification ASTM B221, “Aluminum and
Aluminum-Alloy Bar Extruded Bars, Rods, Shapes and Tubes” except
for Aluminum-Alloy 6061, Tempter T6, use ASTM B308 “Aluminum-
Alloy 6061-T6 Standard Structural Shapes”.
