AC 150/5340-30H, ADVISORY CIRCULAR: DESIGN AND INSTALLATION DETAILS FOR AIRPORT VISUAL AIDS (07-JUL-2014)., This advisory circular (AC) provides guidance and recommendations about the installation of airport visual aids. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recommends the guidance and specifications in this AC for the design and installation details for airport visual aids. In general, use of this AC is not mandatory. However, use of this AC is mandatory for all projects relating to the design and installation details for airport visual aids funded with federal grant monies through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP) and with revenue from the Passenger Facility Charges (PFC) Program. See Grant Assistance No. 34, Policies, Standards, and Specifications, and PFC Assurance No. 9, Standards and Specifications. All lighting configurations contained in this standard are a means acceptable to the Administrator to meet the lighting requirements of Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Part 139, Certification of Airports, Section 139.311, Marking, Signs and Lighting.
