UFC 4-740-06, UNIFIED FACILITIES CRITERIA (UFC), YOUTH CENTERS (12 JAN 2006)., UFC 4-740-06 provides guidelines for evaluating, planning, programming, and designing Youth Centers. The information in this UFC applies to the design of all new construction projects, to include additions, alterations, and renovation projects in the continental Unites States and overseas. It also applies to the procurement of design/build services for the above-noted projects. Alteration and renovation projects should update existing facilities to meet the guidance and criteria within budgetary constraints. The Youth Center is a social and recreational center primarily for use by children ages 6 to 18 in support of a Youth Program, as defined by DoD Instruction 6060.4 Youth Programs (YPS). The Youth Center supports opportunities for youth to develop their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive abilities and to experience achievement, leadership, enjoyment, friendship, and recognition. Youth Program activities are generally offered free of charge or at a reasonable cost to parents to encourage participation and make them affordable to families.
