This handbook is structured to provided (1) a basic understanding of the optical properties of natural obscurates and battlefield-induced contaminants (2) a descritpion of type and magnitude of the effect that each obscurant may have on generic electro-optical (EO) and mmw systems; (3) the data and procedures to enable the engineer to calculate the effects of these obscurants on a user-specified systems design.
