It is to be used in conjunction with appropriate complementary codes or specifications for materials design and construction. It is not intended to supplant codes developed for use in specialized fabrication, such as the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, aerospace codes, or military specifications; it is appropriate for use in fabrication of ballistic and non-ballistic primary structures, supporting structures and appurtenances. This code is based on commercial and military specifications; primarily ANSI/AWS B2.1, ANSI/AWS D1.1, MIL-STD 1941 and MIL-STD 1261.
