NAVSEA S0300-B5-RPT-010, U.S. NAVY SALVAGE REPORT SPACE SHUTTLE COLUMBIA (0910-LP-102-2949) (SEP 2003)., February 1, 2003 will be recognized in the annals of American history as a day of national tragedy and sorrow due to the in-flight disintegration of the Space Shuttle Columbia. This report chronicles the extraordinary efforts of hundreds of individuals comprising dozens of teams from federal, state and local agencies, industry, and private volunteer efforts which successfully undertook the daunting task of underwater search and recovery of Columbia debris from the reservoirs, lakes, and ponds of East Texas and Western Louisiana.
