FIPS PUB 4-2, REPRESENTATION OF CALENDAR DATE FOR INFORMATION INTERCHANGE (15 NOV 1998)., This standard provides a means of representing calendar date to facilitate interchange of data among information systems. This standard adopts American National Standard ANSI X3.30-1997: Representation of Date for Information Interchange (revision of ANSI X3.30-1985 (RI991)). This standard reinforces the Federal Government's commitment to use data format standards that will facilitate a smooth transition of systems in the year 2000. This standard is being issued to preclude any confusion about the use of date format standards within the Federal Government, and to carry out the objectives of the President's Council on Year 2000 Conversion.
