MIL-PRF-32565, PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION: BATTERY, RECHARGEABLE, SEALED, 6T LITHIUM-ION (17-NOV-2016)
MIL-PRF-32565, PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATION: BATTERY, RECHARGEABLE, SEALED, 6T LITHIUM-ION (17-NOV-2016)., This performance specification contains general requirements for secondary (rechargeable) nominal 24 volt lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries having the 6T form factor in accordance with STANAG 4015. The batteries described in this specification are intended to be used as power sources for automotive starting, lighting, & ignition (SLI), and auxiliary electronics (such as deep cycle and silent watch operations with the vehicle engine off). This specification groups batteries into three types according to their minimum capacity and maximum Hazard Severity Level as defined by SAE J2464 for the overcharge abuse and battery nail penetration safety tests specified in this document: Type 1 has a minimum capacity of 55 Ah and maximum Hazard Severity Level of 4 for overcharge and battery nail penetration; Type 2 has a minimum capacity of 55 Ah and maximum Hazard Severity Level of 6 for overcharge and battery nail penetration; and Type 3 has a minimum capacity of 90 Ah and a maximum Hazard Severity Level of 6 for overcharge and battery nail penetration.
