                 Package Designer version 1.0

***************************************************************
The Package Designer is a Windows-based system intended to help
determine the packaging requirements for items. The packaging
requirements include consideration of the type and amount of
cushioning required for safe transportation. The cushioning
requirements must take into account the peak acceleration that
the package might experience during transportation and the
possible height from which the item may be dropped during
transportation. Using the Package Designer will facilitate the
design of safe item packaging.

HOW TO INSTALL THE PACKAGE DESIGNER?
***************************************************************
Installing the Package Designer is very easy using the
setup program provided (SETUP.EXE). If SETUP.EXE is not
present in your set of Package Designer files, then you
received an incomplete set of the Package Designer files and
the Package Designer cannot be installed properly. Contact
AFPTEF or your MIS department. (The AFPTEF address can be found
at the end of this file). If you are installing the Package
Designer on a network drive, read the additional instructions
at the end of this section.

To install the Package Designer, follow these steps: From your
Windows Program Manager, choose "File" in the menu bar and then
choose "Run" from the displayed pull down menu. In the dialog
box type the full path to Package Designer's files, and the
program name SETUP.EXE. For example, if you were installing
from drive A:, you would enter "A:\SETUP.EXE". If you were
installing from drive B:, you would enter "B:\SETUP.EXE".
After the installation program is started, follow the
instructions displayed in each dialog. Once the Package
Designer is successfully installed, a Package Designer group
will be added to Windows.

Network Installation: If you are installing the Package
Designer on a network drive, then installation of the Package
Designer files is identical to the local installation, but
there are additional network rights requirements. For a
network installation, install the Package Designer software
on the desired network drive. Ensure that if Windows is
installed on the network, the installer must have rights to
place files in the WINDOWS and WINDOWS\SYSTEM directories.
After the software is installed, create a group called
something like "Package Designer Users", and assign Read,
Create, Erase, Modify rights and optionally assign File Scan
rights. Add the Package Designer usernames to the Package
Designer Group.
