DOD-STD-1371B (NOTICE 3), MILITARY STANDARD: INSPECTION PROCEDURE FOR USE OF ANAEROBIC THREAD LOCKING COMPOUNDS WITH STUDS (03 SEP 1998) [S/S BY SAE-J2270]., DOD-STD-1371B(SH), dated 1 November 1977 is hereby canceled. The "Stud Installation Verification" and "Joint Assembly Inspection” paragraphs of SAE J 2270, "Ship Systems and Equipment - Threaded Fasteners - Inspection, Test and Installation Requirements" contains test and inspection procedures for use when installing fasteners with anaerobic thread locking compound. When DOD-STD-1371 is specified for inspecting studs locked with anaerobic thread locking compound, instead use the "Stud Installation Verification" paragraph of SAE J 2270, subject to any approval requirements of the contract invoking the use of DOD-STD-1371. When DOD-STD-1371 is specified for inspecting the final joint assembly, instead use the "Joint Assembly Inspection" paragraph of SAE J 2270 subject to any approval requirements of the contract invoking the use of DOD-STD-1371.
