AN938 (REV. 6) (NOTICE 3), AIR FORCE-NAVY AERONAUTICAL STANDARD: TEE, TUBE, INTERNAL THREAD (11-MAY-2009) [S/S BY SAE-AS5192]., AN938 Rev 6, dated 21 March 1979, is hereby cancelled. Future acquisitions for this item should refer to SAE-AS5192, "FITTING, TEE, INTERNAL STRAIGHT THREAD PORT." (Copies of these documents are available online at http://www.sae.org or from SAE World Headquarters, 400 Commonwealth Drive, Warrendale, PA 15096-0001.) Reason for NOTICE 3: SAE inactivated Part or Identifying Numbers (PIN) with material code letter D for replacement parts and for new design to use code letter W. This is because code letter W is stronger in tensile strength than code letter D. This is based on the previous PA’s revision, as a result of lessons learned. Plus to add back material code letter S for replacement parts and for new design to use code letter R. The code letter R is better for applications requiring higher temperature. Table l provides a detailed supersession cross-reference of cancelled AN938 Rev 6 PINs and replacement SAE-AS5192 PINs. CAUTION: The supersession information is valid as of the date of this notice and may be superseded by subsequent revisions of the superseding document.
